Welcome to the Club!

For most nurses obtaining your license is a long journey, filled with sleepless nights and early mornings. But you did it! You pushed through the hard parts and fulfilled your scholarly dreams. So what’s your next step in this journey?

You are now part of the exclusive Nurses Club, so what will you do with your time in this field? How will you make your mark and leave each patient a little bit better?

Maybe you think you already know your path, or maybe you have no idea what to do next. Healthcare is challenging and always evolving, which can be exciting but also terrifying at the same time. There are tons of avenues to explore with your new found career choice but it can be overwhelming where to actually start and what to do when you get that first position. It sounds silly to say because obviously you just spent years honing skills so you know what to do on the job, but you will soon realize that nursing can’t be found in a textbook or in a classroom, it isn’t a career but a passion inside of you.

Don’t worry I’m here to help navigate this new world with you!

I stepped into the Nurses Club ten years ago and back then I had no clue what I was about to learn. Over these past ten years I have worked in different settings and used the same core knowledge that I learned from a group of seasoned nurses at my first nursing position. I was lucky … very lucky! For most nurses they don’t get a great first start, they get trained by over worked, under staffed nurses who have been doing this for years, so they don’t necessarily stop to explain the why part of the job. But don’t worry you will make it through your first job with more knowledge then you ever thought, just stick around and we’ll get through it together!

Each week I’ll be posting more helpful information, tips, tricks and guides for the first time nurse to use. I want to make sure you are supported and well educated from the start so you can succeed while focus on giving the best care possible to your patients.

Welcome to the wonderfully complicated world of NURSING!
